Hyperhidrosis: treatment of excessive sweating

If sweating becomes unbearable, it can be diagnosed as hyperhydrosis.

Affected patients are often without detectable causes, and are often bathed in sweat even in cool surroundings. Typically affected areas are armpits, hands, feet, or also the brow. The cause is often a result of a strongly increased activity of delicate skin nerves which stimulate excessive sweating in the skin.

The large majority of patients can be helped with a gradual treatment. In this case aluminum chloride, iontophoresis and Botulinumtoxin (Botox) may be used. Beforehand, however, an exact diagnosis of hyperhydrosis is necessary.
